Business Services and Training Programs
Provides training and educational opportunities to existing and new businesses through small business seminars, luncheons and programs in which members have shown interest.
Chamber members and Point Isabel Independent School District administrators join together to meet during the school year to discuss and address issues of common concern for he school district and the area business community, particularly as it applies to quality education and workforce development. Meetings are scheduled throughout the school year and serve to foster open communications and awareness.
Monitors local, state and federal legislative issues of concern to our Chamber membership and our community. Committee members attend informational meetings with various government representatives and issues related associations, respond to legislative communications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors as needed.
Hospitality and Lodging Tourism Alliance
A forum for leaders from the lodging/tourism industry to share first hand experience and knowledge; offer input to the budgeting and development for Island marketing plan and event support; share experience as to the effectiveness of Island marketing plan and event support; influence improvements in Island marketing efforts and event support; incubator for ideas for events and projects which will have a positive impact on HOT tax collection; offer suggestions to expand existing business and attract new business which will have positive impact on HOT tax collections. Recommendations made to Board of Directors and one approved are shared with City and Convention Center staff.
Ambassadors of the Chamber, they welcome new businesses with ribbon cutting ceremonies and business networking mixers. Islanders also serve as community volunteers and support staff at Chamber events. Visits to each new business member are also part of their program of work.
Leadership Laguna Madre
The mission of Junior Leadership Laguna Madre is to increase awareness of community needs, opportunities, problems and resources; and to develop the leadership concept of active involvement combined with integrity as an integral part of community responsibility. The program is open to senior class members enrolled in at PI-ISD, and that meet the criteria set forth by the district for participation in outside programs.
